These are two entries from the recent Indaba Music remix contest for the entire Bon Iver album.
The Winter Trap remix of Holocene was inspired by the recent sounds of trap and dubstep, and was conceived to almost be a polar opposite of the original in tone and rhythm. Subtle wind noises complete the wintry effect, which rise into a final crescendo towards the end, accompanied by the fading notes of the original's bass guitar.
The Stringstep remix of Wash has a Burial-like quality, with 2 step sounds merging into dubstep. The original's hopeful tone is retained, but this remix lends a more dreamy quality to the finished work, using a variety of reverb and echo effects, as well as the original's background string and piano samples.
The bonus remix of Lisbon, OH is included. This was not entered in the remix contest due to it being incomplete by the submission date and will only be offered here on Bandcamp when the entire album is downloaded.
